His research interests cover many areas of complexity theory and over the years he has made contributions to circuit complexity, cryptography and approximability of NP-hard optimisation.Professor Håstad is an elected member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences, and is a fellow of the American Mathematical Society and the Association for Computer Machinery.
