This June sees Peanut Butter Funk once again bringing an evening of dance music inspired by the vibrancy and sounds of Africa, South America and the Caribbean to The Book Club's lovely basement.
Andrew Ashong (DJ set)
Sounddhism & PBF DJs
Headlining we have one of our favourite musicians in the country, and all round soul man, Andrew Ashong. Songwriter, singer, DJ, producer, and collaborator with the likes of afrobeat icon Tony Allen and Detroit legend Theo Parrish - he'll be treating us to a medley of dancefloor-friendly beats encompassing classic house, disco, techno, hip-hop and electronica influences alongside afrobeat, kwaito, cumbia and South American rhythms.
Joining Mr Ashong will be wonderful DJ duo Otro Mundo. With a resident show on East London's Netil Radio and a bunch of festival appearances lined up for the summer, Nicky V & KGP will be bringing a bag of the latest sounds from Africa and South America, linking things up with scenes closer to home.
Starting and ending proceedings on the night, as usual, are the resident PBF & Sounddhism DJs - Artworth Steeling, Omah and Mr Sounddhism - plus Book Club resident Onyeara on warm-up duties.
Dancing shoes required.
