C. Escher and sketching a chosen viewpoint in the gallery space as a group based creative activity.The aim of our session is to improve confidence in walking on a more regular basis, boost mental wellbeing and give participants safe opportunities for social interaction. By hosting this session will aim to merge creative medium of sketching on the move engaging with participants, who are often inactive, make physical activity part of their daily routine exploring greenspaces in London.Background to M.C. Escher. The ExhibitionStep into a world where maths and art mix together! Dutch artist M.C. Escher is famous for drawing optical illusions, impossible buildings, and endless patterns. For the first time in London, the exhibition brings together over 150 of his original works from his earliest works to those of his mature period highlighting the techniques and research that shaped his practice. The exhibition guides visitors through the major themes that made the artist famous: from landscapes, tessellations, and metamorphoses, to impossible constructions and the iconic visual paradoxes that make his style instantly recognisable.You will get to see some of his most famous pieces up close, including Day and Night, Relativity, and Hand with Reflecting Sphere.It is not just about looking at pictures on a wall. The exhibition includes fun, interactive displays designed for both adults and children. These let you play with the ideas behind his art and see exactly how he created his tricky visual puzzles.ON THE DAYPlease arrive on time at the meeting point: the entrance to Somerset House (Strand).If you have any issues on the day, contact 07870 590402.This workshop will be indoors, however, we ask you to dress for the weather.We ask all attendees to bring their own art material of a sketchbook, pencils, eraser, and sharper as a means of continuing the activity in your time after the session creating your own Move and Sketch plan. If you do require assistance with materials, contact us prior to attending the activity.Book NowPlease book one time slot per person. Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before your booked slot.
