Mindful Self-Compassion 5 Day Course with Kind Mind Academy

Mindful Self-Compassion 5 Day Course with Kind Mind Academy

The Museum of Happiness is very excited to be teaming up with the wonderful Kind Mind Academy!
Both Co-Founders Vicky and Shamash have done this course and can hand on heart say it has had profound positive effects on their lives! So we are so excited to bring this to the Museum of Happiness!
Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) teaches core principles and skills that enable us to respond to difficult situations and emotions, with the same compassion that we would extend to our loved ones!
If you have ever been stopped by a nagging inner critic; if you have ever failed at something and berated yourself unkindly or if you have been facing tough times, MSC is for you. You may feel self-kindness is out of reach, you may feel self-compassion is selfish or you may simply not be able to truly appreciate your good qualities. Whatever draws you to MSC, you can be reassured you are not alone and you will not be judged.
A gentle, tender embrace awaits those who have the courage to meet their aching hearts and minds with compassion and kindness. We encourage slow learning. We melt the suffering with the warmth of our own heart. The course is rich, full and can sometimes be activating, however, we meet each experience compassionately and kindly, as best we can.
You are warmly encouraged to learn slowly and gently. We warmly invite you to explore your inner landscape with Mindful Self-Compassion. Experience the benefits as you immerse yourself with MSC practices, insightful exercises and gentle self-reflection. The welcoming, friendly and open-hearted energy of the Museum of Happiness is the perfect place to make friends with yourself.
The Mindful Self-Compassion Intensive is the perfect way to learn all the remarkable tools and valuable skills to live a self-compassionate life, especially if your schedule makes it difficult to commit to the 8 week training. Learn all the MSC practices in the comfort of The Museum of Happiness, away from hectic life distractions.
Give yourself the freedom to soak up the MSC teachings, learn in a peaceful (and happy!) environment with experienced, supportive teachers. As part of the experience, you will receive a beautifully bound MSC manual with all the practices and research information. You will also receive audio recordings of all the practices you learn throughout the course so that you can leave knowing you have resources to help you deepen and develop your practice. And an exclusive bonus for all Kind Mind Academy Graduates is FREE access to daily morning practice with Kathryn, Liz and their MSC Graduate Community.
This course is for anyone wanting to learn or deepen mindfulness and self-compassion skills. You DO NOT require any previous mindfulness, meditation or compassion-practice experience to attend the course. If you are a professional or in the caregiving field, this 5-day Intensive training officially qualifies as one of the pre-requisites for the MSC Teacher Training.

* You are significantly kinder to others than you are to yourself
* You're tired of your inner critic running the show
* You want to actually like yourself, befriend who you are
* You desire peace in your head and heart
* You are time-starved and cannot commit to 8 consecutive weeks training
* You are impatient to learn MSC and want an immersion experience!
* You want to break free from everyday life to rest, reflect and nurture yourself
* You want to learn in a safe, private, and supportive environment
* You want to learn in a beautiful, loving energy environment with everything is taken care of
* You want a break from everyday life to rest, reflect and nurture yourself

* You will learn the Official MSC Intensive Programme originated and certified by the
* Centre of Mindful Self Compassion (CMSC) based on groundbreaking research by Kristin Neff, PhD, and the clinical expertise of Christopher Germer, PhD.
* Led by experienced, qualified (and really lovely) teachers Kathryn Lovewell & Liz Walker.
* MSC is a skill that can be learnt by anyone.
* The only prerequisite we would suggest is having an open, willing heart and buckets of kind curiosity. It is an adventure into the often unchartered world of warm appreciation for yourself, especially in moments of difficulty or suffering.
* No previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is required.
* Self-compassion is not self-pity or self-indulgence. It is a way to gently offer loving kindness to ourselves when things are tough.
* Self-compassion provides emotional strength and resilience, allowing us to motivate ourselves with kindness, admit our shortcomings, forgive ourselves for being human; bring a warmth to the way we respond to ourselves and recognise that we are not alone in our struggle- that we share a common humanity.
MSC helps us ask the question- "What's the more compassionate option here? It brings the mind into the present and trains the brain towards compassionate motivation as a default mode" (Thupten Jinpa).

Let's look at the evidence-based lasting BENEFITS:
* Self-compassion is powerfully linked to wellbeing.
* It is strongly associated with fewer negative states like depression, shame and negative body image and it is strongly linked to more positive states like happiness, life satisfaction and optimism.
* It is also linked with better physical health.
* The latest research shows the proven benefits of Mindful Self-Compassion safely and effectively mproves health by:

Enhancing emotional wellbeing
Building resilience
Boosting happiness
Reducing anxiety
Reducing depression
These benefits are sustained even one year after the completion of the MSC programme.

We are Living proof of this ;0)

Kathryn Lovewell is a profoundly passionate Certified Mindful Self-Compassion teacher. She first experienced MSC in 2015 after a long and deep search for self-love, self-acceptance and peace with her body. MSC was the key she had been looking for. Since that day, every challenge, every moment of pain, every sadness has been an opportunity to practice MSC and come home to kindness.
Kathryn is an award-winning emotional health and well-being specialist. For over a decade she has combined meditation, mindful awareness, therapeutic practices and positive psychology to create personal and professional development programmes in the UK, USA & Australia. She is the author of the bestselling book Every Teacher Matters; Inspiring Wellbeing through Mindfulness and co-author of The Positive Edge Journal. Her mission is to inspire tender self- care and loving self-kindness across the globe.

Liz Walker has spent the first three years of her MSC experience gently deepening her personal practice whilst supporting Kathryn and her participants in the room and behind the scenes. Witnessing the dramatic change in her own inner landscape and the profound life-changes in participants, Liz has finally taken up the baton to sit at the front of the room.
She is a beautiful teacher, gentle, non-judgemental and exquisitely patient both with herself and her participants. Prior to being introduced to the concepts of MSC in 2015 she had a very strong inner critic, and now finds she is able to increasingly soothe this critical voice & be kinder to herself. Now, instead of beating herself up with what she does not achieve, she intentionally acknowledges her successes, enjoying a few internal high 5s!
Liz loves providing amazing, memorable experiences where comfort and joy are the key ingredient. She is exceptional at creating, organising and running inspirational and supportive events. She loves learning, laughing and letting go! Liz is deeply skilled and particularly delighted about holding a kind, nurturing embrace for all participants.

We have created the timetable to be as gentle and supportive as possible.
The first two sessions have a half day space to help you let go of your busy life and will also enable you to absorb the conceptual material without being overwhelmed. We recommend you create as much space for yourself as possible to gently integrate the teachings and begin practising. You will have time for a gentle start to the course, allowing all the information to soak in without any striving or effort.

We are offering a non-residential 5 day Intensive to keep costs low. However, if you would like to give yourself a retreat experience as you learn MSC, staying in a local Airbnb could be a nice option. There is also the Holiday Inn Hotel just opposite the Museum of Happiness.
If you live close and would like to share your beautiful home with someone who lives further afield, please do get in touch when you register.
In this way you can support yourself and another in holding a kind and gentle space each day.
If you return home each night, we positively encourage a week of relaxation and reflection. We recommend you take great care of yourself, avoid the "real world" as best you can and give yourself time to nourish your body and nurture all parts of yourself. We will talk more about this in Session 1.
We have deliberately created the course so that weekends bookend your Intensive training. The first weekend will help you unwind from your everyday schedule and to prepare for the Intensive. The second weekend will give space for gentle integration and further reflection. We recommend you keep both weekends as empty as possible to reap the most benefits from the course.

Seeing ourselves as an important project worthy of time, love and care is important. Our MCS Grads have never regretted making this investment in themselves. We really don't want price to be a barrier to people accessing the course. Therefore we will be offering some gifted and "pay what you can" places. Please just email us and we are happy to help wherever we can!

But don't take our word for it!
