# Event Details - **Event Name**: MANTIS presents a day of Global South Trans Solidarity - **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 02 May, 2026 at 10:00 am โ€“ Sat, 02 May, 2026 at 06:00 pm (+01:00) - **Event Description**: A full day of trans solidarity by the Mutual Aid Network for Trans People in South Asia aimed at awareness building & fundraising.About this EventIn early March 2026, the Government of India introduced and passed, within a week, the โ€œTransgender Protection of Rights Bill, 2026โ€ in both the lower and upper houses of parliament with overwhelming and at an unprecendented speed.Within a week on 31st March, the president of India signed the bill into an act. No Trans communities across the country were consulted in the writing and passing of this bill.In this time, Trans communities in India have been organising around the bill (now an act), creating a concerted effort to communicate the effects of the bill, while at the same time, forming litigation teams to challenge it in state and national courts.This event is led by Trans people who want to engage attention to the connected nature of anti-gender movements around the World that have, in India and beyond, successfully used trans people as scapegoats in a time of active genocide, and racial-capitalist destruction around the world. We have designed this event as a full-day programme that will bring bits of trans organising and creativity from communities in India for people to engage with here in the UK.
