This new project brings migrants and award-winning musicians together to create original music inspired by rivers, ecology and migration.Tracing the River Peck from its appearance at the edge of Peckham Rye as it flows down across the Common towards Rye Lane, this musical walk is open to all and, where possible, accessible to all. Led by experienced guide and local artist Rachel Gomme, with support from InspiralLondon associates and Living Streams Connect, it invites people to walk together in a friendly, cooperative and collective way, celebrating rivers as places of sanctuary, peaceful co-existence and healing.Living Streams Connect is led by composer Isa Suarez alongside award-winning musicians Arowah, Beibei Wang, Mercedes Maresca and Rihab Azar, who together form the Living Streams Ensemble. Drawing on the musicality of water streams from around the world, the project connects themes of climate justice and human migration and has been developed through workshops with migrants in London.This event is presented in collaboration between InspiralLondon, Living Streams Connect, with SDCAS (Southwark Day Centre for Refugees and those seeking Asylum) and local artists including Rachel Gomme and Charlie Fox.
