Pandit Debasis Chakroborty and Ustad Akram Khan on slide guitar and tabla, then Kathak.About this EventOn 23 September we return to The Bhavan with Rhythms of Ragas & of Feet, our third Kala Festival concert on Castletown Road after Concert for Harmony & Peace in 2023 and Echoes of Tradition in 2025. The evening splits in two. Hindustani instrumental music first, then Kathak.Pandit Debasis Chakroborty plays Indian slide guitar in the Senia-Maihar line of Pandit Brij Bhushan Kabra, and teaches as Associate Professor of Music at Mangalayatan University. He played here in 2023 and 2025, and taught a slide guitar workshop at The Bhavan that same September.Ustad Akram Khan is the seventh generation of his family to play tabla in the Ajrada Gharana. He learned from his great-grandfather Ustad Mohammad Shafi Khan, then from Ustad Niazu Khan, and teaches more than fifteen of the gharana's classic kaydas. He shared the 2025 bill here in a memorable tabla duet.Alokparna Guha dances Kathak after the interval. She trained under Dr Malabika Mitra and works across the Jaipur and Lucknow styles.
