We aim to introduce new perspectives to the field of human rights research, which has traditionally been focused on legal theory and mechanisms, and to further the understanding of state crime. Our focus is on victims and civil society as key actors is defining, exposing and challenging state violence and corruption.The Criminal Justice Centre (CJC) provides a forum for research and learning in all aspects of criminal justice. Our members are drawn from both the legal profession and academia. We provide advice and training to the legal profession, governments and judiciaries, author key publications on criminal justice, engage with the media, undertake collaborative research, supervise post-graduate research and regularly host seminars, lectures, workshops and conferences. In 2015 the CJC launched the Criminal Justice LLM programme.The State Crime Film Club, hosted by ISCI and CJC, will bring together scholars, filmmakers, activists, diaspora communities and journalists in order to promote wider awareness and understanding of the pressing and pervasive, but underreported, issue of state crime. Film screenings will serve as a focal point for a broader programme of events, including director Q&As, panel discussions, book launches, workshops and public seminars.
