Everyone knows about the Lord Mayor’s Show, when the new Lord Mayor processes through London in a splendid coach, accompanied by numerous floats, musicians and dancers. This illustrated talk will go back in time to the days when the Show was produced by the City’s ancient livery companies, such as the Merchant Taylors and the Haberdashers. Taking a peek behind the curtain, it will tell the story of the people who created the Show, from poets to painters, artisans to actors, and more, as recorded in the rich livery company archives held at the Guildhall Library. Join Professor Tracey Hill to learn more.
In-person: For access to the event, please use the West Wing Reception entrance on Aldermanbury.
Online via YouTube: Event link to be sent to attendees 24 hours prior to the talk.
