- **Event Description**: A CTLS Lecture in Transnational Justice by Professor Harold Hongju Koh.About this EventHow America's President Became a National Security ThreatA lecture by Professor Harold Hongju Koh, Yale Law SchoolHarold Hongju Koh is Sterling Professor of International Law and former Dean at Yale Law School, where he teaches public and private international law, national security and foreign relations law, and human rights. A Korean-American, he has served in four U.S. presidential administrations of both parties, including as U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (1998–2001), Legal Adviser of the State Department to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton (2009–2013), and Senior Adviser in the State Department’s Office of the Legal Adviser in the Biden Administration (2021). He received degrees from Harvard College, Magdalen College, Oxford University, where he was a Marshall Scholar, and Harvard Law School, where he was Developments Editor of the Harvard Law Review. Before Yale, he clerked for Justice Harry A. Blackmun of the United States Supreme Court and Judge Malcolm Richard Wilkey of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, worked as an attorney in private practice in Washington, and served in the Office of Legal Counsel at the Department of Justice.
