- **Event Description**: The course will cover all 3 types of intestinal failure.About this Event  https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events9/banners/59564170-2581-11f1-886e-e3e40c802de8-rimg-w1111-h740-dcfffffe-gmir.jpg Horizons is a 3-day hybrid course which is now in its 28th year running and covers all 3 types of intestinal failure.This course is for clinicians with adult patients not paediatric patients.Day 1 will cover aspects of type 1 intestinal failure including causes and prevention, refeeding, requirements, short term access, bowel obstruction, choosing a PN bag and managing metabolic complications in the short term.Day 2 will cover aspects of type 2 intestinal failure and will focus on the management of enterocutaneous fistula and high output stomas, fistuloclysis/distal feeding, maximising enteral nutrition, pharmacology issues, management of chronic pain and dysmotility.Day 3 will cover type 3 intestinal failure and will focus on home parenteral nutrition including the national home parenteral nutrition framework, monitoring patients on HPN, complications such as infections, metabolic and abnormal LFTs, quality of life, malignancy, intestinal rehabilitation and the patient perspective.Recording and on-demand access –There will be a full recording of this 3 day course, which will be available for 12 weeks for attendees to catch up on.  https://cdn-az.allevents.in/events10/banners/59889c10-2581-11f1-886e-e3e40c802de8-rimg-w1200-h510-dcbcacbd-gmir.jpg The venue for Horizons will be at the Royal College of Nursing, London.
