As we ascend to a viewpoint and the ruins of an abbey, we pick up the Pilgrim's Way. Along this path, we climb to the picturesque St. Martha-on-the-Hill church, which offers some of the best views over the Surrey Hills and as far as the South Downs. Continuing we walk to our lunch spot at Newlands Corner, a popular beauty spot where the crime writer Agatha Christie staged her disappearance in 1926, the trail then descends into the valley. It takes us through Woodlands before to Pewley Down where we have superb views over the day's excursion, to follow the Pilgrim's Way, leading us back to Guildford, where you can join us for a post hike social, before heading back home.GRADE: Beginner/ 17km 11m 337m ascent 4.45hrs walking time.
