We will look at luxury apartment blocks with in-house facilities, nurses' homes and hospital buildings, as well as forward-thinking garages and service stations designed for the weathy few who could afford a motor car at that time. We will visit places of learning, innovation and commerce, and some charming 1930's pubs. This route is not just about the buildings as it offers some marvellous examples of sculpture including low relief panels carved by one of Charles Holden's favourite artitsts, and two others by one of my own favourite sculptors.
