The evening is an ode to the oral tradition of sharing stories and histories - the reflection, sorrow and laughter brought to life through shanties, ballads, chorus’, protest song and more.Hosted on boards the Theatreship in the heart of the dock lands, the evening will be conducted in a familiar singaround-style. Everyone is invited to share a song, but you do not have to sing to attend! You may want to join in with a chorus, or just sit quietly and enjoy. There are no explicit parameters on what a ‘traditional folk song’ is, and folks songs from all traditions are very welcome!Instruments for accompaniment are welcomed, however this is primarily a singers evening. Theatreship also runs a great tunes session which may be more appropriate for your 32 hornpipes.Recommended age rating: 12+______________________The venue opens at 4pm for drinks in the bar.Theatreship is committed to broadening access to the arts - we know that ticket price is a huge barrier for some. If the regular ticket price is beyond what you feel able to afford for whatever reason, please don't hesitate to email us at tickets@theatreship.co.uk and we will do everything we can to help, no questions asked.We also offer arts supporter tickets, for those that can, to pay a higher price to support the venue, the artists who perform here and subsidised tickets for others.Due to the historic nature of the ship, we’re sorry to say there is not currently step-free access into the theatre space.
