- **Event Description**: In his second solo show with studio1.1, Stewart presents a series of intricately conceived and executed linocuts – an installation of figures (in both the human and diagrammatic senses – illustration and data), whose impassive presence fills the gallery.

While using the most physical of media, solid lino blocks carved into with sharp metal tools, opaque inks, what remains are almost ethereal traces, de-materialising the body; sequential phases shimmer and blur. Titles attach emotional states belying these figures’ stillness, suggesting sometimes turmoil sometimes sublimity.

Shifting the registration points to create movement, the process is repeated until the figure is complete, layer upon layer they take on an individuality becoming in effect monoprints rather than an edition. Accidents are embraced, multiple apparitions are manifest, gouged into existence, whether calm or threat. They hover before us in a kaleidoscopic humanity; intermediaries between physical and non-physical being.
