He began his career at Fugro Seismic Imaging before joining DUG Technology in 2013, where he helped start the company's new EAME services division. In 2020, Tom took up the role of Chief Geophysicist. He is heavily involved in the research and development of processing and imaging technologies at DUG, including deblending, FWI and Multi-parameter FWI imaging.Talk outlineRecent advances in Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) have fundamentally changed the conventional seismic workflow. Techniques like Multi-Parameter FWI (MP-FWI) imaging eliminate the need for the traditional processing and imaging sequence, moving beyond simple velocity model derivation. Even more powerful, elastic MP-FWI can directly derive rock properties, making the conventional AVA inversion workflow obsolete. This presentation discusses these advances and their underlying theory and presents a range of onshore and offshore case studies from various geological settings.
