Discover more about Diane Arbus and the impact of her artworks within the history of photography and feminism at a half-day of study.

Arbus’ photographs of children and eccentrics, couples and circus performers, female impersonators and pedestrians are among the most intimate, surprising and haunting works of art of the 20th century.

The event offers exclusive early-morning access to her Hayward Gallery exhibition, diane arbus: in the beginning, before it opens to the general public, with a guided tour starting at 10am.

9.30am – 11am: Exclusive morning access to diane arbus: in the beginning.

10am: Guided talk from Assistant Curator Katie Guggenheim at Hayward Gallery, introducing the exhibition.

11am: Moving to Level 5 Function Room, Green Side, Royal Festival Hall, for presentations by experts on Arbus:
Martin Barnes, Senior Curator, Photographs, Victoria and Albert Museum; curated Diane Arbus Revelations
Zelda Cheatle, Curator and Expert in Photography
Alona Pardo, Curator, Barbican; recently curated Another Kind of Life featuring Arbus

There is time for a lively facilitated question and answer session after each speaker’s presentation.
