Crossmodalism Gathering XXII

Crossmodalism Gathering XXII

Crossmodalism Gathering XXII

From superpower to super curse, invisibility will be explored through various angles and discipline in april's crossmodalism gathering. In today’s society, what is invisible is not magic, but technology. Current scandals are urging us to become more invisible, more discreet, and yet at the same time we realise that some issues should be more visible, screaming at society, demanding actions. We are both tempted to pay for digital spies in our own houses and resent being spied on. Can invisibility be truly a choice? For some it’s a dream to be off the grid, for others it’s a sentence. Crossmodalists will attempt to give diverse examples of what it means to be invisible in the generation of social media, followers and consumerism. Come to explore, be intrigued and ready to challenge and be challenged. Conversations as always lubricated by delicious negronis and nibbles.

Crossmodalism is the story of people with too many passions refusing the isolation of specialisation. Crossmodalism takes the shape of a community and movement based on Curiosity, Collaboration, Experimentation, Intellectual Diversity, and Eudaimonia. Crossmodalism facilitates discussion and collaboration across disciplines that are not traditionally linked, combining art, science, design and entrepreneurship. Gatherings are the springboard from which we can begin such collaborations. They are organized by the team of volunteers. Come for inspiration, wonder, and to meet like-minded misfits.

You might have noticed our newly created Patrons of Experimentation. Patrons are the core of the Crossmodalist community and, for the cost of a coffee a month, enable us to make Crossmodalism sustainable and seed-fund projects and explorations from the community. It is a potluck to create and experiment! Patrons can propose projects to use the funds collected, and also have priority and discounted access to events created by the community, an honorary mention on our website, and a voice and vote regarding our future.

Broke artists, starving entrepreneurs, indebted students, and crooks can email us at bG9uZG9uIHwgY3Jvc3Ntb2RhbGlzbSAhIGNvbQ== for discounted access (entrance for £2).
