- **Event Name**: Computational Biology Symposium @ The Crick
- **Event Start and End Date**: Tue, 29 Sep, 2026 at 09:00 am – Tue, 29 Sep, 2026 at 06:30 pm
- **Event Description**: One day symposium connecting London’s computational, AI and biotech communities to spark collaboration and accelerate discoveryAbout this EventThis event brings together computational researchers from across London's leading institutions, including the Francis Crick Institute, UCL, Imperial, and King's, alongside the AI and biotech community around King's Cross, to spark new collaborations between computational and experimental science. The programme spans three themes: omics, biomolecular design, and lab in the loop. The day features invited and contributed talks, plus poster sessions selected from submitted abstracts, with plenty of time for informal discussion over coffee, lunch, and an evening reception. We welcome researchers at all career stages and especially encourage early-career researchers to present their work.Abstract submission through here. Confirmed speakers include Michael Sternberg (Imperial), Stefano Angioletti-Uberti (Imperial), Michael Howell (the Crick), Mihaela van der Shaar (the Crick) and a talk on AlphaGenome (Google DeepMind), with more to be announced. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions at marta.sadlej@crick.ac.uk.Looking forward to seeing you there,Computational Biology Symposium organising committeeMarta Sadlej and Alexandru Nicolae-PopescuAgenda?: 09:00 AM - 09:30 AMRegistration & coffee?: 09:30 AM - 11:15 AMSession 1 · Biomolecular design?: 11:15 AM - 12:00 PMCoffee break?: 12:00 PM - 01:30 PMSession 2 · Omics?: 01:30 PM - 03:00 PMLunch & poster session?: 03:00 PM - 04:15 PMSession 3 · Lab in the loop?: 04:15 PM - 04:45 PMClosing remarks and prizes?: 04:45 PM - 06:45 PMNetworking, drinks and postersSession 1 ?: 09:30 AM - 09:40 AMOpening remarks?: 09:40 AM - 10:10 AM09:40–10:10 Stefano Angioletti-Uberti (Imperial College London)Info: Embed to Align: Using Protein Language Models to enable an interpretable generative approach based on (AI-)directed evolution?: 10:15 AM - 10:45 AMMichael Sternberg (Imperial College London)Info: Modelling protein structure, ligands and missense variants in the AlphaFold era?: 10:45 AM - 11:00 AMAbdolrahman Shams Nateri (University of Nottingham)Info: From In-Silico SPOCK1-MMP Interaction Dynamics to Patient-Derived Models of Tumour ECM Remodelling?: 11:00 AM - 11:15 AMMartin Rees (King's College London)Info: Generation of a de novo designed binder to the massive muscle protein titin for use in fluorescence microscopySession 2?: 12:00 PM - 12:15 PMTheodore de Pomereu (The Francis Crick Institute / Imperial College London)Info: Let the data write the equations: decoding signalling dynamics with symbolic regression?: 12:15 PM - 12:30 PMElizabeth Amelia (Imperial College London)Info: The Homogenisation Limit: Spatial and Temporal Boundaries of Transcriptomic Biomarkers in Oncology?: 12:30 PM - 12:45 PMChristian Langridge (UCL / QMUL)Info: TRACE: a multi-task tabular transformer for differentiation coordinate prediction in human neuroepithelial organoid scRNA-seq?: 12:50 PM - 01:30 PMDr Joshua Pan (Google DeepMind)Info: AlphaGenome Atlas: in silico mutagenesis of the entire human genome improves prioritization and interpretation of non-coding variantsSession 3?: 03:00 PM - 03:30 PMMihaela van der Schaar (University of Cambridge / The Francis Crick Institute)Info: Title to be announced?: 03:30 PM - 04:00 PMMichael Howell (The Francis Crick Institute)Info: AI and laboratory automation in discovery research-married bliss or still in the friend zone?
