About the event

Community Neurorehabilitation for FND: An Integrative Approach
Join us for a multidisciplinary study day exploring biopsychosocial approaches to neurorehabilitation for Functional Neurological Disorder.

About this Event

We are pleased to announce ‘Community Neurorehabilitation for Functional Neurological Disorder: An Integrative Approach’, a study day hosted by the Tower Hamlets Community Neurorehabilitation Team and Barts Health NHS Trust.

The free study day will include case discussions, interactive workshops and plenary sessions to support you in working with patients with a diagnosis of FND. The event is aimed at all clinicians working in this area, including psychologists, psychotherapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists, as well as nursing, medical, and social work professionals, and will provide ample time for interdisciplinary networking.

In recent years, awareness of FND has exponentially increased, resulting in the development of new clinical services, the publishing of novel research and guidance, and, in August 2025, the inclusion of FND in the revised NHE England Specialised Neurology Service Specification. In September 2025 the Tower Hamlets Model for providing multidisciplinary FND rehabilitation in the community was published in Advances in Clinical Neuroscience and Rehabilitation. We will present the model as part of the study day, as well as introducing the Pressure Cooker Model, a biopsychosocial formulation and intervention tool that emphasises the role of interpersonal factors in the development of functional symptoms.

The event will be led by a group of experienced clinicians, who have worked with patients with functional presentations in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. Tickets are free and there is an option to pre-book lunch, should you wish.

Places are limited so we encourage early booking, and conference attendees are strongly encouraged to submit questions to presenters.

We look forward to welcoming you in January 2026.
