EVERY WEDS 6.30-9PM MAY 13TH-JUNE 17TH.About this EventA SIX WEEK COURSE FOR COMEDY IMPROVISERS WHO WOULD LIKE TO INCORPORATE MORE CLOWN TECHNIQUES INTO THEIR IMPROVIn these six weeks, we will explore clown techniques (as taught at the Ecole Philippe Gaulier school), as well as how to implement these techniques into improv scenes.This course is for improvisers who want to create more dynamic and alive improv scenes and take their stage craft and embodied game to the next level.Classes will run every Wedneday evening from 13th May - 17th June. 6.30-9pm at Jackson's Lane Theatre. At the end of the six weeks, there will be an optional public showcase at The Libra Cafe in Camden on Thursday 18th June.What to expect from this course:Exercises exploring the stage craft of clown, as taught at the Ecole Philippe Gaulier school.Exploring the concept of Major and Minor on stage. How to skillfully pass attention and focus between performers to create dynamic alive scenes.Cultivating presence and pleasure on stage.Working with Fixed Point and using stillness to create more powerful stage imagery.Finding the game with other performers through the body, as well as through premise.Developing deeper sensitivity to the audience and building on what they are enjoying.Working with elements and voice as a way into creating strong physcial characters.Working with the red nose to explore the state of 'not-knowing' on stage, as well as finding joy in The Flop.Who is this workshop for:People who have taken level 3 at The Free Association, or equivalent. Who are comfortable initiating scenes and finding game.Performers who are curious about the work of Ecole Phillippe Gaulier, but who did not get the chance to attend the school when Phillippe was teaching.Performers who want to bring their improv performance alive on levels that go far beyone the verbal.Anybody age 18+ of any race, gender or sexuality.* If you have a physical limitation or injury, please notify me before the course begins and I can make adaptations to the classes. This course is bases a lot of physical comedy, so if you know you have additional physcial needs, please do let me know and I'd be happy to factor those in.*ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:Nicola Cross trained for two years full time at Ecole Philippe Gaulier, from 2016-16, directly taught by Philippe himself. She has also trained with world class clown teachers, including Dr Brown, Angela de Castro, Dan Lees, Lucy Hopkins and Nola Rae. Nicola has toured solo clown comedy shows around European Festivals, including The Edinburgh Festival and Brighton Fringe. She is a regular comedy improviser who trained at The Free Association. In her day job, Nicola is a personal development coach and facilitator.
