# Event Details

- **Event Name**: Bakerian Prize Lecture: Bioelectronics – technology interfaces with the human body
- **Event Start and End Date**: Tue, 12 May, 2026 at 06:30 pm (+01:00)
- **Event Description**: Professor John Rogers FRS, winner of the Bakerian Medal and Lecture, will deliver his prize lecture on 12 May 2026, at the Royal Society in London, at 6.30pm.

The Bakerian Medal and Lecture is awarded annually for sustained, outstanding achievements in the physical sciences. Professor John Rogers FRS is recognised with the Bakerian Medal for foundational scientific and engineering contributions to the field of bioelectronics. He is Director of the Querrey Simpson Institute for Bioelectronics at Northwestern University.

In this lecture, Professor Rogers will present electronic and optoelectronic technologies designed to allow stable integration with living organisms. These technologies will accelerate progress in biomedical research and will also serve as the foundations for new approaches in monitoring and treating diseases.

Specifically, capabilities for injecting miniaturized, biocompatible electronic systems and other components into soft tissues or for softly laminating them onto the surfaces of vital organs will create unique and important opportunities in tracking and manipulating biological activity.

He will also describe the core concepts in electrical engineering, materials science and system design that underpin these types of technologies.

This lecture is free to attend. Registration is recommended if attending in person, otherwise availability cannot be guaranteed. Doors will open to the public at 6.00pm.

The lecture will also be livestreamed on the Royal Society website and on the Royal Society YouTube channel.
