Join our round table talk, where artists discuss their creative practise as a form of activism. This conversation will be led by Tarik Elmoutawakil. We will also be joined by artsists involved in the Words Matter exhibition.
The event is FREE, as part of the Words Matter exhibition event programme.
Tarik Elmoutawakil was a part of the Words Matter project (STAGE ONE), which has now become an exhibition. Tarik is a creative producer and independent artist, creator of Brownton Abbey and co-founder and Artist Director at The Marlborough Theatre, in Brighton. His work largely focuses on making creatively engaging spaces that centre marginalised people. Whether that’s through intersectionally mindful programming at The Marlborough Theatre, producing and delivering an un-conference (‘The Black Joy Sessions’) or curating, staging and hosting the Afrofuturistic Performance party, Brownton Abbey.
Words Matter is a multi-disciplinary exhibition showcasing the works of twelve artists who participated in a six-month knowledge exchange programme, exploring UCL’s historic role in promoting the pseudoscience of eugenics.
