In the session we will cover:Identifying canalside plants, their folklore and traditional usesHow to extract a photosensitive dye from plantsHow to prep the paper for the printingHow to lay out your plants for a successful printFor those who attended a previous session we will also build on your experience by incorporating abstract shapes into your compositions and experiementing with using different colours in your design. Anthotype print making is a form of cameraless photography where an image is created using the photosensitive properties of plant dyes. These prints must be left out in the sun for several days, or even weeks, for the image to develop. As such, you won't finish the session with a finished print: the session will cover making the plant dye and prepping the paper. The paper we prepare with this dye will then be used to make a print that will be featured in a public art display called Canalside Flora.
