This event brings together editors and contributing authors of the landmark publication Applied Psychology in Fashion: A Research-Informed Approach (Palgrave Macmillan, 2026) to discuss how far the field of fashion psychology has come since then, as well as the challenges and opportunities ahead.The event will start with a “making of” presentation by the editors, introducing the book and the journey that led to it. This will be followed by a panel discussion providing the opportunity to learn more about the applications of psychology to understanding topics such as fashion in relation to sex, gender, and disability inclusion; the impact of fashion industry practices on the mental health of consumers and the industry workforce; the relevance of dress for well-being; consumer behaviour; sustainability; and digital fashion.
