No musical experience needed, just bring yourself and the name of your favourite river and/or mountain. Fatima Lahham is a London-based recorder player, vocalist and improviser. Her heritage embraces Jabal Qasiyun in Damascus and the Cherwell river in Oxford amongst other rivers and mountains. Fatima's work brings people together through listening, voice and improvisation. She is currently a Hallsworth Research Fellow at the University of Manchester, leading a community music project with Muslim communities in London and Greater Manchester. Her debut album bulbul (2022) and her book Improvising Otherwise (2025) are both inspired by her love of sound and story. This workshop is presented as part of Sawt Al Layla, a night of sound at the 3oubour exhibition featuring a late exhibition opening as well as musical performances. The 3oubour: A River Between Mountains exhibition is at Crafts Council Gallery from 13 - 22 November.
