The path leads us through serene ancient woodland, across a deer park and past Roydon Hall, an historic country house with centuries of history. Emerging onto Gibbs Hill, we are rewarded with superb panoramic views stretching across the Kent countryside.From the summit, we descend to the hamlet of Pizien Well and continue across the Wateringbury Stream. The trail then takes us to Brattle Mill, a historic site once powered by the flowing waters, before continuing on through open fields and the charming village of Wateringbury with its riverside heritage.We pause at Teston Country Park for lunch, a beautiful riverside setting with meadows, picnic areas and the convenience of public toilets. It’s an ideal place to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings before continuing our journey.The return route follows the River Medway towpath, a tranquil and scenic stretch lined with willows, old bridges and abundant birdlife.
