In this class, you'll explore how to capture iconic figures from history and culture in a loose and energetic style.

Artist Joshua Beaty will guide you through a series of exercises that emphasise spontaneous mark-making, dynamic gesture, and playful composition, offering a fresh approach to drawing familiar subjects.

Our Saturday Sketch Clubs are a series of online monthly art classes led by artists. Whether you're a beginner or a practising artist, these live-streamed classes are designed for everyone. Classes take place online via a live webinar.

Joshua Beaty is an artist, designer and educator whose work explores the unresolved potentials of drawing. He studied at Central Saint Martins, gaining a BA and MA in Fashion Design as a recipient of the Louise Wilson Fund, the Sarabande Foundation Scholarship and the Samsung Design Award. He has worked with Julie Verhoeven, Phoebe English, Alexander McQueen, Charles Jeffrey, The Mandrake, Kensington Roof Gardens, Joyce Hong Kong, Dover Street Market, Palais de Tokyo, Uniqlo, Love Magazine, amongst others. As an artist he has exhibited globally. He has taught at Central Saint Martins since 2019.

For this class, all you need is a pencil, some paper and an eraser.
