- **Event Description**: During the 12th Dynasty, a powerful local family held authority as governors of Elephantine in Egypt’s southernmost nome. Archaeological works done at the nomarchs’ tombs at Qubbet el-Hawa have revealed just how influential the family was and have shed new light on the genealogical connections between the tomb owners.

Dr Luisa M. García González is Visiting Professor in Egyptology at Northeast Normal University (NENU), Institute for the History of Ancient Civilizations (IHAC), Changchun, China. She is also Member of the Research Group in the Faculty of Anthropology, (Ancient History) at the University of Jaén, Spain and Deputy Director of the Qubbet el-Hawa Project, which is the main topic of her research.
