Trompettist Bart Maris laat zich zelden betrappen op voorspelbaarheid. Zo groeide hij uit tot een spilfiguur in de creatieve jazz in België en bij uitbreiding Europa. Met de musici van Shibabi vormt hij samen een nieuwe groep. Ze vonden elkaar in de Gentse scene. Als 4-tet zonder harmonisch instrument konden ze het Ornette Coleman Quartet met Don Cherry als referentie nemen, maar Albert Ayler of Peter Brötzmann vormen eveneens een inspiratiebron. De jonge snaken van Shibabi zijn de perfecte band waarin Bart Maris thuiskomen kan.
