Science Unwrapped: Celebrate Undergrad Research - Countdown to Launch

Science Unwrapped, the public STEM outreach program of the USU College of Arts & Sciences, invites inquiring minds of all ages to participate in fun science learning experiences. Admission is free. Each event begins with a brief science talk followed by hands-on learning activities and refreshments.

Our Fall 2025 theme is "Celebrate Undergrad Research" in recognition of USU's 2025 "Year of Undergraduate Research."

Friday, November 14, 2025: Launching any payload into space requires lots of energy. Every ounce and inch counts as scientists and engineers strive to pack as much function as possible into the smallest space possible. Undergrad researcher Ethan Wayland leads USU’s Get Away Special (GAS) student team, which has been selected by NASA to design and build a CubeSat (cube satellite) to deploy into space from the International Space Station. The team, with mentorship from USU Electrical and Computer Engineering Associate Professor Reyhan Baktur, is developing “GASRATS” (Get Away Special Radio and Antenna Transparency Satellite), which features a novel optically transparent patch antenna integrated into a solar panel. Join Ethan and Reyhan to find out how student researchers design and build a satellite for space!

Parking is available in the university parking terraces at 700 East 600 North and 850 East 700 North in Logan. Parking is FREE for Science Unwrapped guests.
