This is a story of two brothers and their raucous retelling of their father’s life on the way to his funeral. There is alcoholism, abuse, exotic dancers, crime, tragedy, love, and persistence with all kinds of things despite incredible obstacles. It’s a testament to survival and to life itself in some of its most extraordinary forms.

This program is designed for adult participants but all ages are welcome.

Douglas M. Rife has developed products for classroom teachers and school administrators as a publisher and an author for nearly five decades. His personal passion is American history which has led him to republish out-of-print histories, volunteer as a docent, help to preserve local historic sites, and to assist in drafting legislation to protect cemeteries in his home state of Iowa. He blogs about cemeteries at gravelyspeaking and his written more than 25 books for teachers who teach American history.

His most recent book, We Buried Dad In a Leisure Suit, published by Sunbury Press, is his first memoir. Rife holds a bachelor's and master's degree in American history from Iowa State University. Currently, Rife is retired from publishing and lives in Bloomington, Indiana, with his wife where they raised their three children.
