Originally from the Portuguese Midlands and now based in Glasgow, Miguel has developed a unique traditional music style which shape-shifts across the borders of classical, jazz, and contemporary music.With the eagerness to push and dare, the ebb and flow between styles and techniques Miguel displays make him “A new and genuinely unique voice in contemporary Scottish trad. The completely unplugged setting allows the audience to experience the music of strings and voices in particular in a rich but intimate setting, making it the perfect venue for this special concert. Miguel was a 2025 finalist at the prestigious BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year competition. He is a founding member of the up-and-coming project the Capstan Quartet welding old and new melodies of the Scottish tradition with contemporary aesthetics.
