Forest to Table: Garden Party
A Seasonal Gathering by The Ladybird Company
📍 Bud Miller All Seasons Park, Lloydminster, AB
10:00 am - 1:30 pm
An open invitation to all lovers of plants, ecology, old wisdom, shared heritage, and deeply nutritious food. Join herbalist and horticulturist Mackenzie Elizabeth for a seasonal gathering, beginning in the forest and ending at a shared table, honouring the unique, wild flavours of Alberta and Saskatchewan. This is more than a meal, it is an echo of the celebratory gatherings of old, when communities came together to share the abundance of the summer harvest.
There are just 4 of 8 seats remaining at the table, so if you resonate with the intention of this event, I would love share knowledge and stories with you at this gathering.
🍄 Field Notes & Folk Stories Walk (1 hour)
In the first part of this event, we will gather on the north side of the park. You will receive an iced herbal tea, hand blended by The Ladybird Company to showcase some of the wild flavours we will learn about as we walk. We will slowly wander the north trails, speaking in depth about Fireweed, Yarrow, Saskatoon, and other plants that are of interest in this season.
🥧 Kitchen Demonstration (30 minutes)
We’ll return to the garden, and gather for a brief culinary demonstration on how to prepare some of the ingredients we discussed in the wild. You’ll learn simple techniques to add culinary value to recipes you may already be making.
🌿 Forest To Table Garden Party
We’ll gather at our table in the garden, and share a small, four course meal, featuring seasonal fruits, wild greens, garden-grown herbs, and cultural recipes rooted in local and personal heritage. Every aspect of the meal is crafted, from scratch, to be nourishing, wholesome, and a little bit wild- accessible flavours you’ll never find in the grocery store.
✧ Final menu to be released soon- stay tuned to The Ladybird Co.’s Facebook page. ✧

At its heart, this event honours heritage- culinary and cultural. It is a love letter to the long tradition of acting as a part of the ecosystem- reciprocity in taking from the wild, eating seasonally, and acting as steward of the earth. If you aspire to find what it means to nourish both the land and your community, I would love to share this space with you.
