This year's Welsh Cross Country Mountain Bike Championships (inc Welsh MTB XCO Series Round 5) will take place on Saturday/Sunday, 11th/12th July , at One Giant Leap, hosted by the Fibrax Fenwick's Wrexham Cycling Club, supported by Beicio Cymru. 

One Giant Leap XCO/XCC course

The OGL course features a mix of steep climbs, technical descents, and flowy singletrack sections. It is designed to test a rider’s endurance, power, handling skills, and mental focus. The terrain alternates between demanding uphill stretches and thrilling downhills, with plenty of obstacles that require precise technical handling. 

We are working hard with the landowner to modify the course to ensure that all parts are rideable, while still offering a challenging and fun course.

Events are organised by volunteers from local cycling clubs with the support of Beicio Cymru. Taking place across Wales at weekends throughout March to July. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and includes courses that are well-planned and safe.

Series events will follow British Cycling regulations.

What is XCO/XCC?

Cross Country Mountain Bike racing (XCO) is off-road cycle racing which takes place in a variety of off-road venues. Mountain Bike racing is often held in parkland, woodland, and forestry sites. These venues are designed to include climbs, decent and other technical features.

Short track racing (XCC) takes place on a shortened, easier course for a maximum of 20 minutes. (U14 and older race on the U12 course, U12’s race on the U10 course)

Each race will involve racing around a taped-out circuit for an agreed time period. The number of laps ridden will be determined by the speed of each individual racer. 

Anyone can enter, no matter what their age, ability or bike. Provided they have a helmet and their bike is in good working order. There is a category for everyone and separate (age-suitable) races for younger riders.
