Join Freshwalks for a memorable early summer escape to Llangollen in June 2026. Thursday begins in Llangollen with a scenic heritage rail journey to Corwen, followed by a challenging hike back across the Berwyn Hills with expansive views of the Dee Valley. Day two explores the Llangollen History Trail, passing the 12th century ruins of Castell Dinas Brân and Valle Crucis Abbey, and winding our way back into Llangollen past the iconic Horseshoe Falls. Thursday evening will be spent at The Corn Mill, perched above the River Dee. This tour blends mountain adventure, heritage, and warm Welsh hospitality.

A scenic heritage rail journey following the River Dee, passing rolling hills, historic stations, and iconic Welsh countryside, offering nostalgia, wildlife views, and beautiful charming landscapes between Llangollen and Corwen.

This circular hike combines history, heritage, and stunning scenery. The route begins with a steady climb to the dramatic hilltop ruins of Castell Dinas Brân, offering sweeping views across the Dee Valley. Descending through rolling countryside, walkers reach Valle Crucis Abbey, a striking medieval monastic site, before continuing to the tranquil Llantysilio Church. The return to Llangollen follows the peaceful towpath
of the Llangollen Canal and the banks of the River Dee, passing Thomas Telford’s famous Horseshoe Falls. A rewarding walk showcasing castles, abbeys, churches, and waterways in the heart of North Wales.
