Skupino The Drinkers sta leta 1993 ustanovila kitarist Robert Likar in pevec Sandi Kolenc – Koli. V prvotni zasedbi so igrali še bobnar Andrej Žibert, basist Miro Medvešček in klaviaturist Evgen Malis.

Ustvarjajo v svojem prepoznavnem slogu drink’n’roll. Njihove pesmi pogosto govorijo o alkoholu in druženju, besedila pa so preprosta in hitro zapomnljiva, zato jih občinstvo na koncertih zlahka prepeva.

Prvi album z naslovom Lepi in trezni je izšel leta 1995, sledil pa mu je Žeja (1997). Leta 2005 je moral Koli zaradi zdravstvenih težav začasno prenehati z nastopi, nadomestil pa ga je Matjaž Živkovič – Maki. V tem obdobju so posneli album Hajdi (2007) in koncertirali po Sloveniji in Hrvaški. Leta 2011 se je Koli vrnil, pridružil pa se jim je klaviaturist Primož Trebec.

Po Kolijevi smrti leta 2017 je skupina prenehala z delovanjem, vendar se po večletnem premoru zopet vračajo na odre. Prvi nastop v novi zasedbi so imeli 7. marca 2026 na prireditvi Jevniški Retro Džuboks v Jevnici. Vlogo frontmana je prevzel Kolijev sin Domen.

Zasedba skupine je sledeča:

Robert Likar – kitara, vokal
Kristian Buovski – bas
Janez Grošelj – bobni
David Zavolovšek – kitara

V času svojega delovanja so izdali sedem albumov, posneli več kot dvajset videospotov ter prejeli zlato in platinasto ploščo. Nastopili so po vsej Sloveniji in na številnih festivalih ter moto zborih.
