# Event Details - **Event Name**: Rethinking the Right to the University: A Course Design Workshop - **Event Start and End Date**: Thu, 25 Jun, 2026 at 12:00 pm – Thu, 25 Jun, 2026 at 03:00 pm - **Event Description**: A third Anticolonial Education Working Group event and workshopAbout this EventFor our final Anticolonial Education Working Group event of 2025/2026, this three-hour workshop is focused on designing a cross-faculty course inspired by the work of Robbie Shilliam and Stephanie Butcher, and focused on the provocations, possibilities, and challenges of advancing 'epistemic justice' and the role of universities in contributing to socially just cities. With particular attention to community partnerships, the workshop will imagine a university course/module that outlines a vision of teaching based upon the fair distribution of resources, the recognition of diverse needs, and the meaningful representation of residents within university pedagogic processes. Doing so requires innovative methodologies that can bring arts, politics, and theory-building into a productive relationship that is accessible to educators, academics, and activists alike. Workshop attendees may include community partners, members of the public, students, and members of university management. The workshop will focus on discussing a proposed course outline and its aims, while engaging in an open discussion about the opportunities, strengths, and challenges associated with improving community-led knowledge mobilisation within and between the University and its neighbouring communities. Please note that this course is being planned in line with its association with the University of Liverpool's Continuing Education and Go Higher Access Programme.
