PRINTING WITH SUMMER LEAVES: BOTANICAL CONTACT PRINTING WORKSHOP
PRINTING WITH SUMMER LEAVES
BOTANICAL CONTACT PRINTING WORKSHOP
Come and discover nature’s secrets by printing fabric and paper with summer leaves in the stunning environment of Sefton Park Palm House, Liverpool, a Grade II* listed building.
Maggie Pearson, an experienced textile artist and botanical printer will lead you through the principles and practice of botanical contact [‘eco’] printing, in which plant pigments are released by the application of heat and moisture. You will earn some steps which you can take to enhance the colour and definition of your prints with tannins, iron and natural dyes.
You will print at least once piece of silk large enough for a scarf, and at least one stack of papers, using a wide range of the leaves which will be available at the height of summer.
Workshop places are limited to seven to maximise participants’ experience.
