9401 Morgan Territory Road, Livermore, United States
Referred to as “the morning side of the mountain”, Morgan Territory Regional Preserve’s picturesque ridgetop views and oak woodlands are home to the threatened Western Pond Turtle, deer, coyotes, and many raptors, including Golden Eagles and the elusive Prairie Falcon. Linking Mount Diablo State Park, Round Valley Regional Preserve, and Los Vaqueros Reservoir, its expansive views of Mount Diablo, the Sacramento-San Joaquin River delta, and the Sierra Nevada range inspired photographer and activist, Bob Walker, who’s work with several advocacy groups led to the establishment of the Morgan Territory Regional Preserve and its namesake ridge, as well as other parklands in the East Bay.
Be sure to bring plenty of water and a snack, and dress in layers. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended. Heavy rain cancels.
Restrooms are available at the parking lot.
