Join us for Community Compass: A Gathering for Safe Passage, a heartfelt circle of care and connection for our teacher and friend Renee Blacken as she prepares to row 3,200 miles across the Atlantic Ocean — solo — in support of trauma-recovery programs through her nonprofit Outdoor Adventuring for Good.
While Renee navigates the seas, our community will hold the compass steady — gathering here at home in story, shared self-care practices, and sound to help guide her safely across the waves and home again.
🌊 Reflections & Slideshow
We’ll begin with Renee sharing her journey to the starting line in Lanzarote, along with the heart and purpose behind Outdoor Adventuring for Good.
A chance to witness her preparation, ask questions, and connect to the mission that will carry her across the ocean.

🧭 Community Compass Circle
After the slideshow, we’ll gather in circle — a living compass of community care.
Each participant is invited (never required) to share a self-care or grounding practice that Renee could use while at sea — something simple that brings steadiness, focus, or calm in uncertain moments.
✨ To prepare: please bring your practice written on a small card.
This might be a breathing technique, mantra, visualization, gentle stretch, or sensory cue — anything that helps restore balance.
During the circle, participants may share from their cards (or contribute them quietly).
These community-offered practices will travel with Renee across the ocean and be highlighted throughout her voyage as weekly reflections of resilience and care.

🎶 Restorative Soundbath & Closing Circle
We’ll close with sound and stillness — a collective intention for calm seas and safe passage.
A time to breathe, settle, and hold the compass of care together.
⸻
💌 Message-in-a-Bottle Table
Throughout the event — and available beforehand in the studio — you’re invited to visit the Message-in-a-Bottle Table to write a note or blessing that will travel with Renee inside her Nalgene bottle.
These messages will accompany her across the Atlantic as reminders that her community is always close, no matter how far the horizon.
☕ Tea, food, and gentle conversation will be available throughout the afternoon.

💙 Donation Details
This gathering is offered by donation (suggested $75) to support Outdoor Adventuring for Good and its trauma-recovery initiatives.
Your presence, care, and participation are the truest compass points — guiding Renee with love across every mile.
Each attendee will also receive a small compass keepsake — a reminder to hold Renee in your thoughts and to stay oriented toward care, courage, and community while she rows across the sea.
