Through extensive interviews and access to Buckley’s papers, Tanenhaus produced what many consider not just a biography, but an extraordinary account of a crucial period in history.Tanenhaus’s educational path began at Grinnell College, where he earned his B.A. in English in 1977, and continued at Yale University, where he completed a master’s degree in English literature in 1978.Tanenhaus, became a well-known journalist, historian, and author has written several influential books, including his 1997 biography Whittaker Chambers — a Pulitzer Prize finalist — and his 2009 treatise The Death of Conservatism.
