A Son is Given

The Music Ministry of First United Methodist Church is proud to offer in worship To Us a Child Is Born by Johann Kuhnau, a cantata for choir, soloists, strings, and organ in worship December 7th at 11:00 AM. Johann Kuhnau was the cantor at Thomaskirche, a position where his successor was the great J.S. Bach. In fact, for centuries, musicologists assumed this work (Uns ist ein Kind geboren in its original German) to have been of Bach's design. Our choir has been hard at work to learn this wonderful piece; you don't want to miss it!
