- **Event Description**: Mt Rothwell is one of the best places in the state to spot species like bandicoots, bettongs and quolls, thanks to the work of the Oodnata Foundation, which is rebuilding genetic resilience in nine threatened species — some once regionally extinct in Victoria.

We’ll arrive at 6:00pm for a relaxed social catch-up and something to eat before heading out on a private guided spotlighting walk. The tour begins just before sunset and runs for around 1.5 hours (approximately 7:30–9:00pm). Picnic facilities, including a kitchenette and BBQ, are available, and we’ll coordinate closer to the date if there’s interest in a shared pot-luck or BBQ.

The walk is slow-paced with plenty of stops. You’re welcome to bring water, snacks and a camera (flash is allowed). Wear sturdy footwear and long pants, and come prepared with warm, windproof layers and wet-weather gear if needed. The terrain is mostly flat, with a gentle incline and some uneven or slippery sections, so participants need to be comfortable walking on uneven ground in low light.
