Join us for “The Gift of Good Food,” an interactive workshop exploring the spiritual and environmental impacts of what we eat. We’ll take time to talk together about the practice of gratitude, the sacramentality of food, the carbon footprint of our daily food choices, and the joy of supporting local food and farmers. Join us to consider, as Wendell Berry says, “How we eat determines to a considerable extent how the world is used.”

Hector Santiago is a Master of Divinity student at St. John’s University. He works with the Franciscan Sisters as an Integral Ecology Graduate Assistant. Hector served for 10 years in the U.S. Army, has worked to restore oak prairie ecosystems in Washington, and has a BA in theology. He is married with two young boys.

Mike Schut serves as Director of Integral Ecology for the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls. His career has been dedicated to connecting faith and spirituality with caring for Earth. Mike has edited/authored three books: Simpler Living, Compassionate Life: A Christian Perspective; Food and Faith: Justice, Joy, and Daily Bread; and Money and Faith: The Search for Enough.
