World Sand Dune day is on Saturday 27 June and to celebrate Ranger Chris will be hosting a free walk and talk through Formby’s protected dunes on Thursday 2 July. 

Along the way you’ll discover more about the conservation work we are doing to help this special habitat thrive and find out more about all the wonderful wildlife that call the dunes home. We look forward to welcoming you.

We’ll meet at Lifeboat Road car park (L37 2EB), Bay 1 (the first bay on the left as you pass the portable toilets). You’ll find us by the large information map board, close to the bins.

Weather appropriate clothing, sun cream and a hat recommended. No sandals or open toe shoes, sturdy shoes are a must. Bring refreshments.

The walk is suitable for people of all ages, but please note that the dunes are uneven and the route will be over undulating ground. Unfortunately, the dunes we’ll be walking through are not suitable for wheelchair users and prams.

Children must be accompanied at all times.

There are 15 places available for this event. 

Booking is essential and tickets are free, but normal car parking charges apply. Parking is free for National Trust members and Blue Badge holders.

To increase your chances of spotting wildlife during the walk please leave your dogs to chill at home.
