- **Event Description**: Teach Siamsa Finuge is proud to announce the inaugural Cornelius Lyons Summer Harp School, taking place from June 20–22, 2025, and culminating in a special public concert at the historic Rattoo Round Tower on Sunday afternoon.
While the harp workshops are designed for registered participants, the wider public is warmly invited to attend two key events: A heritage talk From the Parlour to the Pub - Saturday June 21st at 3.00 PM in Teach Siamsa. With harper and researcher Niamh O’Brien exploring the evolution of Irish harping from the 1950’s to today, and a double-bill concert on Saturday night at 7.30 PM in Teach Siamsa Finuge, featuring: Janet Harbison, one of Ireland’s foremost harpers and a champion of Lyons’ legacy, and the album launch of Two for Joy, the much-anticipated 2nd traditional duet recording by Elaine Hogan and Sheila Garry.

In the 18th century, the area surrounding Rattoo Round Tower was a known centre for harping. It is believed that Cornelius Lyons, the Kerry-born harper to the Earl of Antrim, may have studied or performed at a harp school there. To honour this legacy, harp students at the summer school will present a public performance at Rattoo Tower on Sunday, June 22 at 3.30 PM, featuring Lyons’ Miss Hamilton.
