After the success of two previous editions of the portrait sculpting workshop, we are back with next one!
Over three engaging days in the heart of Lisbon in Belem, participants will have the chance to learn how to sculpt a life-sized portrait with live model from an award winning artist and member of prestigious Society of Portrait Sculpture - @mralanclarke
The sessions will introduce and explore key techniques such as head and neck anatomy, accurate measuring, design principles, material handling, and surface finishing. Alan combines traditional techniques with keen observation and his unique philosophy, offering a rare chance to learn from a highly accomplished artist and experienced and very approachable instructor. This workshop welcomes participants of all levels, from complete beginners to those with experience.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll take home a completed portrait sculpture in wet clay. Since wet clay is both heavy and delicate, preserving your work long-term will require additional steps such as hollowing and firing, or creating a mold and casting. Although these processes aren’t covered during the workshop, Alan will offer practical advice on how to proceed.
