- **Event Name**: GFAC Linden Dirt Road Ride
- **Event Start and End Date**: Wed, 01 Jul, 2026 at 06:00 pm – Wed, 08 Jul, 2026 at 06:00 pm
- **Event Description**: Parking: Free parking at Linden County Park. We will meet on the park side (not the beach side) at the dirt parking lot towards pavilion 4. This is past the playground. You will enter the park off Whittaker Road. Park Address for GPS is 15349 Linden Rd, Linden, MI 48451

Ride starts at 6 PM with a quick announcement! PLEASE DO NOT TALK THROUGH ANNOUNCEMENTS. Show up ready to make new friends and respect all in attendance. We are here to elevate everyone in the group. It is also really hard for the volunteer ride leader if you are talking during announcements. If you are running late, plan to catch up. We do a regroup at Hogan & Acorn Way which is a great opportunity for a solo rider to catch the group. You can also ride the loop in reverse to catch the group depending on how late you are.

The Route!
Be prepared for anything. Smooth dirt, massive potholes and at various points throughout the year, freshly laid gravel/dirt. The route is mostly flat though the majority of climbs are found on Rolston, towards the end of the ride. Coincidentally this is where most potholes are found as well. The 17 & 22 mile routes stay together for the first 9 miles. If you'd like to ride less than 17 mile we recommend turning around at Smith & Seymour (approx mile 7), retracing your route back to the park. Each attendee is responsible for knowing the route.

Paces and other nuggets:
30 mile route is back! This is the drop route. Expect pacelines, speeds of 20-22 mph as determined by the group and potential to be dropped. While you could be dropped, this group does not TRY to drop people. We try to stay together at least through Rolston. What does this mean? NO DROPPING AT STOP SIGNS, WAIT FOR EVERYONE TO GET ACROSS THE ROAD. Take steady pulls. If you need to rotate through your pull, no problem. You probably shouldn't be sprinting on Rolston if you skipped all of your pulls but we are all adults and make our own choices.

Have the route/know your way back in the event that you end up solo. Could there be a 18-20 mph group? All depends on who shows up. If you want one, make one! We are here to support!!!!

22 Mile & 17 Mile routes stay together for the first 9 miles. In general the 22 mile sees riders of about 15-17 mph and the 17 will have some in the 12-14 mph range. The 17 mile route has a sweeper, this person will lead from the back and make sure we all make it back to the park! If you don't want to ride alone, you may need to slow down!

Required Gear:
· Dirt road capable bike in proper working condition! CX, Gravel, Fat, MTB, Hybrid & dirt road capable E-Bikes are all welcome on this ride. We do not recommend tires under 30mm in width. 33mm+ is preferred.

GFAC Ride Etiquette:
• Show up prepared and on time. Out of respect for others we will not delay the ride start for someone who is late. It is completely okay if you are familiar with the route and have a plan to catch up. In other words, if you are late, plan to find us on the route.
• Ride no more than 2 wide
• Only cross the road when it is safe for you to do so, do not blindly follow the person in front of you.
• We do not drop people at stops. Safe passage is much more important than establishing dominance.
• Use hand signals to indicate stopping & turning. If you are riding in a pack please also point out the most egregious potholes, sudden loose gravel, etc. If you'd like to familiarize yourself with hand signals you can watch this video by GCN here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prYMM7D2qF8
• Call out traffic: "Car Up" and "Car Back"
• SAFETY FIRST. When you hear "car up" and "car back" it is your responsibility to move to the side of the road and ride single file. This is a group ride, we need to share the road and cars always win!
• KINDNESS MATTERS. This group is intentional in our efforts to help people grow as cyclists. If you are a more experienced cyclist please take the time to help others when the opportunity arises. Examples: (1) When someone is learning to ride clipped in and they fall over at a stop sign, help them up and remind them it is extremely common (2) If someone doesn't signal it may be that they just don't know they should. Lead by example and/or kindly let them know where a signal would be appropriate
• If someone is having a mechanical issue on the ride and you are able to help, please do!

Bathrooms: Seasonal port-a-potties at the parking lot and permanent outhouses by the playground.
