Scotland Winter Skills Training IV Ben Nevis CIC

READ THIS CAREFULLY! The last of our major winter excursions will be the most amazing mountaineering you can do in the UK. We'll be travelling to Ben Nevis Thursday morning, leaving the back of the library at 08:00. It's a full day of driving to get there and then a 3 to 4 hour hike to the CIC Hut at the foot of the North Face. We'll be leaving the hut at 06:00 am, straight onto the climbs. Looking to do plenty of grade II and III routes. These routes are longer than prior trips. If you want to come on the climbing for this trip, we'd strongly advise you to come on at least one of the first two training trips. Otherwise, you're welcome to stick on some crampons and go for a walk. It's an amazing place to be and is probably the best trip on the calendar! Staying in the CIC hut is an absolute privilege and it's not something you can do easily. We encourage you to come along even if it's just for the view!

This is a serious winter trip and you need to make sure you're prepared. You need to check the equipment post on the page to make sure you've got all the essentials (especially a headtorch, spare batteries, a whistle, a map and a compass). You should also try and bring as much of the winter & ice equipment as you can - particularly the warm layers, face mask, goggles and walking axe. The wind on Ben Nevis can be extreme, enough to blow you over and enough to freeze and hurt your eyes and face skin.

The society can lend out crampons and walking axes which are adequate for this trip. On the PayPal pool please make sure you comment if you want to borrow these, otherwise, we'll assume you're using your own.

There are strictly 14 spaces available for this trip and by coming you agree to accept all responsibility for your own safety and wellbeing.

The total cost for this trip is expected to be up to £130. To book on you must make an initial contribution of £60 which we will use to book accommodation. Before we leave you must contribute the remaining £70. Should the trip run cheaper than this, then we will refund you the difference afterwards. We're expecting around £120 total, but we need to cover ourselves.
